The Microsoft Surface Duo runs Google -> Stock Android with Fluent UI which reminds us of Windows 10X that comes with dual-screen Windows devices.
Surface Duo, being Microsoft's first android phone it's not a secret that despite its issues the first-gen Duo will receive launcher update and Android 11.
Surface Duo will be supported with OS and Security updates for 3 years.
Once the update is available on your device, you can head over to Settings >> About Phone >> Software Update section to update your Microsoft with the latest update.
